On July 13th, 2022 at 11:37 AM PDT the Sun (Cancer) and Moon (Capricorn) oppose each other at 21 degrees 21 minutes. This is the second Super Full Moon this year, and one more to come in August. This is a powerful event as here we are looking at home and family opposite careers and reputation. With the current news cycles we are all set up for this one. How do we balance these polar opposites and move forward?

Capricorn is a Cardinal Earth sign. It is the sign that rules the 10th Solar month of the year, and the 10th house of the zodiac. This house begins with the Midheaven and speaks of what your career choice will be. This Cardinal sign begins the winter season, and with authority and strength leads the way. It is an Earth sign, grounded in reality and driven to produce something of value in the world. Its driving nature is embodied by the sea goat, the symbol for Capricorn, as it climbs steep passages to find sustenance and what it needs to survive, and can also dive to the depths. The ruling planet for Capricorn is Saturn, the taskmaster. This no-nonsense planet reminds us of our responsibilities and goals.

So when we have a Super Full Moon in this sign, we are looking at the culmination of what we have set for ourselves to accomplish, and whether or not we’ve achieved our goals. Conjunct the Moon is Pluto at 27 degrees Capricorn. We may have to admit our shortcomings here, as Pluto insists we release our excuses and transform our outlook. Together these two can uproot some intense hidden emotions that stir up feelings that need resolving. There can be a tendency to manipulate the situation, going silent or not admitting our part in a problem. Stick to the truth and accept the consequences. We can use this time to awaken our better selves, the one that learns from mistakes and doesn’t blame others for our own behavior.

Do you take the high road or the low road? At this time in history, there are agendas, plans for humanity that we didn’t make, and big changes in the playing field. Don’t let that be a deterrent and keep you from your goals. Sure, you may have to take a different approach than you hoped for, but you can still move forward. If you take the high road, you accept the reality of today's world and see your path within it. You don’t let yourself stop because of what others say or tell you to do. You explore new avenues. If you take the low road, you don’t feel responsibilities need fulfilling and you bend the rules to benefit yourself. Then you stay stuck in your misery, and tell others that you are a victim of circumstances.

The Moon is trine Uranus at 18 degrees Taurus. This is a blessing in that it bestows an uninhibited, spontaneous mood that seeks to find the unexpected or humorous in order to loosen people up and get them out of their rut. You will crave emotional stimulation, excitement, surprises, and anything new. You’ll love to feel free and unfettered. This will help with the otherwise heavy emotional toil.

In considering how to balance our home and family and our career potential, we begin with our set of circumstances. We see the challenges ahead, but if we consider how a mountain goat can climb the rocky cliffs and reach its destination, we see it’s all about being surefooted. Taking one risky step after another, finding our balance and continuing up the mountain. We may slide back, but once we gain our footing the climb becomes doable. We can use this time to take inventory of our situation and draw a new map to our target.

At times lately it seems there are those who want us to fail, who want us to suffer. I believe there is a grand fork in the road. One leads to fulfillment and the other to surrender. I for one choose fulfillment. Whatever your situation is, I encourage you to have strength in the face of pain or grief. To let go of your old existence and climb the mountain to the pinnacle. Whatever you do, whoever you are, you can improve yourself and your life! The key is balance.

The long awaited (at least for me;) first moment of Summer arrives on June 21st, at 2:14 AM PDT! The longest day and the shortest night happens on this day, bringing us to the beginning of the sign of Cancer. As we leave behind the Air Sign of Gemini, and move into this Cardinal Water Sign, the mood changes from very mental to feeling, sensing and caring so much more.

Cancer is the sign that Summer begins, and heralds a shift in perception. This Cardinal sign leads us all into our hearts, where we want to help others, love our families, and share what we have. The Water element brings about a sensitivity that inspires us to be strict and honest in this sign, but also very kind and caring. The Moon rules this sign, and represents Mother, home and family. Like a good Mother, Cancer shows us how to be better people and to see ourselves part of a bigger family. Traditionally on this occasion we celebrate with those we care most about, and get outdoors to enjoy this special day.

In ancient times monuments were built of stone to align with the Sun on this day. It alerted the people of the coming days of Solar powers to grow their crops and know the seasons. Many centuries later we still observe these sites; some go to these locations to pray and observe the placement of the Sun's rays. My favorite way to commemorate this day is to go to the beach or a beautiful outdoor location and create a wheel, or circle of stones, marked in the 4 directions. Each quarter of the circle would represent a different time of life; from the child, to the teen, to the Mother, to the wise woman. I would enter in the South, the child quadrant. I would review any/all Spirit would show me I still needed to see in order to move forward. Once I was full of insight and light, I would move to the teen/West, doing the same, until I was in the East with the old crone. Each quadrant is alive with questions, answers, and enlightenment. I would exit from the East with a new feeling, a new understanding of my life, and how to improve it.

On this day, astrologically speaking, there are planetary and luminary alignments to assist us or challenge us in our quest. The Sun in Cancer at 0 degrees 0 minutes is square the Moon in Aries. You’ll have powerful emotional attachments to the past, your family, your childhood, those places you associate with safety and security and your beginnings. But with the Moon in Aries, you may feel that you are at cross purposes with yourself, for your conscious intentions and desires (Sun) conflict with your subconscious emotional needs and drives (Moon). You are pulled in two different directions and can have difficulty satisfying both your need to be an individual and your need for caring relationships and a sense of belonging. Balance is needed.

The Sun is square Jupiter in Aries, inspiring big aspirations and the desire to succeed in life in a grand way. You may tend to exaggerate, to promise more than is possible, and to misjudge through over-optimism. Restlessness and discontent with responsibilities and limitations in life can be troublesome for you at this time. Help is here with the Sun trine Saturn in Aquarius. Realistic and practical, you can set goals for yourself that are modest enough for you to actually achieve. You are able to tackle long, difficult projects and see them through, for you’ll possess self-discipline, concentration, and perseverance. You also have a strong sense of responsibility and are very conscientious in fulfilling your obligations.

The Sun in Cancer also squares Neptune in Pisces. You’ll be extremely sensitive and imaginative, and you can get lost in your dreams, fantasies, and visions. You are attracted to artistic and creative pursuits, the world of color, beauty, and emotion. You are also drawn to mysticism and have deep spiritual aspirations and yearnings. Gentle and peace-loving, if you lack the will and competitive spirit needed to make your way in the world, you may seek to avoid or escape the hard realities of life.

This is a very creative time of year, supported by our Sun in Cancer. Take time to focus your attention on not only the celebration of Summer, but look at the opportunity to change course and move forward in new ways. As our world changes, so do we, with new insights and understandings of what was and what is.

Focus on the heart, on Mother Earth and all she bestows upon us. Gratitude for all that we have, taking the attention away from lack and fear of what is to come. Stay grounded and be at peace.

On June 14th at 4:51 AM PDT the Sun and Moon oppose each other, creating a beautiful visual display of this Super Moon. The Moon is closest to Earth in its orbit and makes for a bright and beautiful event! The Sun and Moon, in the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius, are both stationed at 23 degrees 25 minutes.

As with every Full Moon, we are looking at goals, dreams and promises we made to ourselves on the New Moon. It is a time of culmination and the reveal. How did it turn out? Did we manifest our intentions, or not act on our behalf? Well, now on this Super Full Moon in

Sagittarius, we can delve deep to see how we did. Not just surface answers, like yes or no; but the core belief behind what affected our actions. These two signs can represent our right and left brain, Gemini representing logic, facts, experience; and Sagittarius our inner knowing, intuition and higher beliefs. It can be a time of opening up ourselves to seeing things differently.

Sagittarius is a Mutable Fire Sign. Mutable as it represents the last month of Fall before Winter sets in. As changeable as that time of year is, so are Mutable signs; flexible and adaptive. The Fire element lights the way for others to follow, showing courage, insight and creativity. It is ruled by the planet Jupiter, larger than life. This is a benefic planet, imbuing us with optimism, bravery and humor. This Full Moon can be a celebration, as the energy is there for honoring each other and ourselves.

On this occasion these luminaries are blessed with a trine (Sun) and sextile (Moon) to Saturn. With all this lofty imagining and big dreams, Saturn in Aquarius brings it down to Earth to assist in more than just talk. In this sign, Saturn adds a methodical, scientific approach to plans, keeping them grounded.

But, at the same time these luminaries are involved in a T-Square to Neptune in Pisces. This is where we can go off the rails, dreaming the impossible dreams in a world where chaos exists. We can lose our way and be deterred off our path if we don’t think clearly and stay grounded.

With the ruling planet of Sagitarrius, Jupiter, in the sign of Aries, we are given personal strength and power to achieve our objectives. I think we can use this occasion to use our body, mind and spirit like a lightning rod. We can imagine, or do physically. See yourself standing in a beautiful outdoor setting. Feel the temperature on your skin; breathe in the fragrance of your location. Close your eyes and breathe in deeply, and exhale, while centering yourself. Feel your feet planted firmly on the ground, even see the Earth’s energy pulsing like a heartbeat into the soles of your feet. At the same time see the crown of your head emanating a light that begins to grow brighter and brighter. Know you are using your body as your tool to send and receive light, energy, information, and healing. Continue to breathe in and out slowly acknowledging the power you are receiving from Mother Earth and Father Sky and be grateful.

This Super Full Moon is a brilliant one, physically and metaphorically. Wherever you live, if you have the opportunity to view this Moon on the night before or in the early morning, you won’t be sorry!

Take a “Moon Bath” by lying under the Moon, stars and planets and open your mind to the unknown. Couldn’t be a better time.
