The Moon reaches its apex at 9:34 PM, PDT. The Sun is stationed at 16 degrees Aries 7 minutes, and the Moon is at 16 degrees Libra 7 minutes. This is a special Full Moon for those who celebrate Easter, as it falls on the first Sunday following this Moon every year. Passover begins before sundown on this Full Moon as well.

The Full Moon in Libra is the culmination ofwhat began when the Moon was New in Libra; September 25th of 2022. Whether consciously or unconsciously when we set goals, dreamt up plans, or begin projects at that time, we were collectively viewing the world through the lens of “we” versus “me.” At that time the Sun and Moon were both united in Libra, degree for degree, and its influence was to be inclusive and not alone. Now with the

Sun in Aries, we are motivated to look at the axis of these two Cardinal Signs. They are both leaders; one of our own destiny (Aries) and the other of those we share our lives with (Libra). We may have been lost in the idea that we were safe, we were stronger united with others; but now we look at the result of those thoughts and actions and see where we fit in the midst of it. Have we reached our goals of unity and justice as Libra insists upon, or do we have a different mindset now?

Libra is an Air Sign. Libra wants to give everyone a voice when leading a group. Libra is active/male in its polarity, but gentle and compromising energy. This makes it hard for the Libran energy to find its leadership opportunities, as it is its nature to seek all sides and at times, take no sides. Libra is the second air sign of the zodiac, intellectual and psychological. It is a social energy, bent on the more the merrier. But Librans seek balance through isolation at times, to recharge and rethink. They are so mental and fair; at times they go around in circles trying to make a decision. This can be overcome through discipline and courage.

Libra is ruled by Venus, along with Taurus. The arts, music, harmony and beauty are very important to Librans. Venus is the planet of love and attraction, affection, and values. Due to the active/male energy governing Libra, the feminine energy brought by Venus accentuates the balance of the sign: Male/Female. Again, astrologers believe another planet will be discovered that is the true rulership of Libra. Time will tell. The symbol for Libra is the Scales of Justice. Libra energy denotes fairness, justice, and balance. It also is read as a half setting sun below the horizon, thus the first half of the year culminating and the second begun. Balance, equality, harmony and peace are necessary for a happy Libran. The highest use for this energy is to seek balance in life. To find balance in work/play, social/alone time, material and spiritual pursuits. To learn to make choices built on personal conviction rather than always trying to make someone else happy. To find their voice and work honestly toward harmony in all environments.

On this occasion Jupiter plays a role, expanding and exaggerating this energy. It is conjunct the Sun and opposes the Moon. Uniting with the Sun at 20 degrees Aries bestows abundant optimism, self-confidence, and a cheerful generosity. Your good will and friendliness can win you many allies. You also may have grand visions and aspirations, with the desire to succeed in life in a big way. With the opposition to the Moon, you’ll have a cheerful disposition and want to reach out to others in a warm, open, friendly way. Your emotional generosity and lack of pettiness will assist your circle of friends at this time, and others may seek you out for help, sympathy, or advice. You’ll be willing to overlook others' faults, and may overdo your charitableness. So, remember the key to this sign is “balance.”

Another milestone to consider at this time is Pluto moving into the sign of Aquarius. It has been in Capricorn from November 27th, 2008 to March 22nd 2023. On March 23 it entered Aquarius, and will go retrograde June 11th before returning to the sign of Aquarius January 20th, 2024. So what you say? Well, Pluto in Capricorn has been about financial, material and structural transformations. Capricorn knows of traditional hierarchies and reaching the pinnacle of the mountain. Pluto is a planet that symbolizes power and transformation. In Capricorn, Pluto asks us to see the corruption that lays at the heart of our relationship to the earth's resources. Pluto in Aquarius will bring metamorphosis through seeing the needs of society transformed through breakthroughs in medicine and healing, technology and science. “Power to the people” could be the mantra or battle cry for the next two decades. Aquarius is progressive, always looking to improve the future, and Pluto isn’t afraid of destroying what limits us and transforming it into something better. It is a time of personal responsibility rather than dependence.

There is a revolution coming; one of a new frontier in our thinking, our beliefs, those in charge, on and on. Celebrate this Libra Full Moon balancing the needs of ourselves with those of others somehow. A perfect time for a meeting of the like minded, to observe and dream a new vision within the construct of the lives we lead. The key is to stay open minded and willing to follow our vision of the future with courage and grace.

The time is here! We have been waiting for the beginning of Spring, and this year it lands on March 20th at 2:24 PM PDT. Spring begins every year when the Sun enters the sign of Aries at 0 degrees 0 minutes. And, astrologically speaking, it initiates the Solar Year.

Let the celebrations begin, and they will all over the world. One notable one is in Chichen Itza, built by the Mayans, at the temple of Kukulkan. Thousands of people come together to see the “Return of the Sun Serpent,” where every Vernal Equinox, the sun casts a shadow over the pyramid that appears like an enormous snake moving down the pyramid.

Ancient cultures went as far as erecting monuments that marked the Sun’s passage into the Equinox. In Machu Picchu Peru; there is a giant stone at the top of this sacred mountain called Intihuatana, which means “the place when the sun gets tied.” Usually the stone casts a shadow during the day, but at exactly noon on the date of the Spring or Autumn Equinox, the Sun’s shadow disappears! The stone is a precise indicator of the date of the two Equinoxes.

On this Vernal Equinox the Sun is joined by Mercury and Neptune in a conjunction. Together they set the tone for this year; Mercury in Aries encourages us to be outspoken and direct, always eager to express our ideas and opinions. And not to mind opposing the consensus; stirring up a little controversy. Neptune lends a sensitivity and imagination, where we are attracted to artistic and creative pursuits and mysticism. You’ll be impressionable and receptive, open to having experiences that are unusual and unexplainable by the rational mind.

This year when the Sun enters Aries we are looking at a new beginning. This new year is followed by a New Moon in Aries on the next day, March 21st at 10:23 AM PDT. This double Fire Sign ignites our power, imagination and strength. It represents the child in all of us; one who dreams the impossible dreams, and makes them come true. Aries energy brings the individual a curiosity much like a child‘s, with the will and energy to act on it. Aries, ruling the first month of the solar year, also rules the first house of the zodiac. Aries is a Cardinal Sign. Cardinal signs govern the beginning, the source, and plant the seeds for what is to come. Aries is a natural leader, an initiator that can be willful and courageous. Directing that will is the challenge for the Aries individual, taking care not to be a dictator or willful child.

Aries is ruled by the Planet Mars. Mars is male/positive energy, a warrior energy that likes a good fight. When well directed, a strong Mars can lend to the individual a great courage, a hero‘s temperament, confidence and leadership. Badly directed can bring disharmony, selfishness, arrogance and mischief. The Ram is the symbol for Aries. Rams plough with their horns to expose the food beneath the surface, the sprouts that lie below, to feed their family. So the Ram energy is breaking the surface to be nourished and fed.

To strive for the highest Aries energy would be to have the strength and courage to fight for whatever ideal, cause, person that you believe in enough. To be willing to speak your mind with calm authority, rather than impulsively. To learn to listen to others so as to be the best leader. And, to pioneer new horizons that others fear to tread.

So as with each New Moon we have the opportunity to make goals, plan for our future, plant the seeds for things to come. We are encouraged to be brave with this New Moon, and to set our intention without fear and limitations. Look at this as you would a garden; you must prepare the ground to ensure whatever you grow has everything it needs. Sure there is work to be done, but once it’s made ready you rest assured you’ve done all the necessary steps to ensure a healthy garden. Life is like that.

On March 7th, 2023 the Sun in Pisces exactly opposes the Moon in Virgo, giving us a Full Moon. It happens at 4:40 AM PST, and is our last Full Moon for this Winter. Another name Native Americans gave this Full Moon is “Worm Moon”, as it’s time for the ground to thaw revealing the worm trails below. We are celebrating the end of a season with these Mutable luminaries, and the transition into Spring. As with every Full Moon, consider the “seeds” you planted when the Moon was new in Virgo, August 27th of 2022.

Virgo is a Mutable Earth Sign. It is flexible and adaptable, very intellectual energy. Being an Earth Sign, it’s nature is to be grounded, stable and practical. This energy lends a caring nature, one of wanting to be of service somehow, helping others through the knowledge and application of it. While the Sun is in the sign of Pisces, a very different energy, it is still Mutable. But, being of the water nature it is more likely to dive deep into the “feelings” place than Virgo. The good news is having balance between these two signs shows one who uses logic and intuition in harmony. If these aren’t jiving, then we can be either/both sloppy and a victim of our life, and an escape artist;) There are always two natures to each sign, and here Virgo is either orderly, methodical and detail oriented, or unkempt, critical and a perfectionist. Same with Pisces; either conscious, creative and spiritual, or overly sensitive, confused and is a procrastinator.

So we are looking at the culmination of what we set in motion late last August, when the Moon was new in Virgo. With the double hit of Virgo (Sun and Moon), it was a mental time setting goals, maybe making lists of duties to be done. Here we are at the fulfillment of those goals; how’d you do? Open up and consider what you had in mind at that time, and see how it’s manifested itself into your life. If you see there is still work to be done, no worries, continue on. But this Full Moon may rock your world due to some planetary interference.

Here we go again with a T-Square to the Sun and Moon; this time from Mars. A T-Square in astrology happens when 2 planets, or here luminaries form an opposition to each other (180 degrees apart), and a third planet forms a 90 degree square to both. When you see it in a chart it looks like a capital T. This is a Mutable T-Square; all are in Mutable signs. This can create havoc regarding making up your mind and committing to a plan. Not only are we already emotional with the Full Moon, but Mars drives a wedge with its combative nature. But, that is the planet we look to for relief and direction in this occasion. Mars in the sign of Gemini on a good day delivers an active mind, and whisperings of ideas into your consciousness. It is a nervous energy making it hard to relax and sit still. You can use your wit, intelligence, communication skills, social sophistication, and awareness to achieve your goals. Use both your right and left brain hemispheres in balance, and this Full Moon can bring sweeping change. You have both the clarity and the connection to your higher mind for answers.

Uranus presents favorable aspects to these luminaries in the sign of Taurus. With a sextile to the Sun, and a trine to the Moon, change becomes easier. Freedom, adventure and excitement can be yours, if you're willing to make the necessary changes in your mind and life. You will feel uninhibited and spontaneous if you release your anger, frustrations and self imposed limitations, one step at a time. Ask for it, pray for it, and allow yourself to grow.

With this Earth Sign Full Moon, and this Water Sign Sun; plant the seeds of intention now. Look at what is, and what are the possibilities of improving it. Allow Mars to light a fire underneath you, the sleeping giant, to get you moving. Then embrace Uranus and state outloud, “I’m ready.”
