On December 4th at 3:14 PM PST the Sun and Moon oppose each other; Sun stationed at 13 Sagittarius 4 minutes and the Moon at 13 Gemini 4 minutes. This is the last Full Moon of the year, and it’s a Super one! This Super Moon is in a rare astronomical cycle; the Major Lunar Standstill, happening about every 18-19 years. This causes the Moon to be one of the highest rising Full Moons we will see until 2042, and will be brighter and appear closer.

With every Full Moon, we look back to when it was new in this sign for what is culminating now. On May 26th of this year the Moon was new in Gemini. This was the last month of Spring, with all of Summer’s goals in sight. Gemini is a Mutable Air sign, full of curiosity and wishing to communicate what they’ve sought to learn. This intellectual sign is full of wit, humor and surface skimming, keeping things lite and fun. The issue can be spreading themselves too thin, having so many ideas and hoping to manifest them all. Now, with this Full Moon opposite the Sun in Sagittarius, we are balancing the superficial and the deep dive. Gemini energy wants to know a lot about everything while Sagittarius wants to focus on the destination. What did you set your sights on?

On this occasion the Sun and Moon are without aspects, only being opposite each other. But the other planets have a story to tell. Let’s begin with Mercury at 22 degrees Scorpio. There is a Grand Water Trine between Mercury, Jupiter at 24 degrees Cancer, Saturn at 25 degrees Pisces, and Neptune at 29 degrees Pisces. Grand Trines are the best of the best, aspect wise, and this much needed review came at the perfect time. Mercury is the messenger, here to bring us wisdom and understanding. It is also the ruling planet for Gemini, the Full Moon sign. The Water element is all about emotions, compassion and empathy. This assists us as the Sun is in a Fire sign and the Moon in an Air sign, making things cut and dry. So here comes Jupiter in Cancer, emoting love, patience and leading us through our feelings in regards to how we communicate. When we open our hearts to each other, talking becomes a release of good energy towards one another. Saturn in Pisces focuses our attention on finding a way to manifest our higher goals, as in spiritual and creative dreams, rather than escaping responsibility. And, Neptune in Pisces thins the veil of our awareness to see the truth behind what we seek.

These planets will be moving out of the Water element in the coming year, and now is the time to get our emotions in check. It’s like cleaning out the closet of our soul, seeing what still is useful and what can be released. While we have this beneficial planetary alignment, take this opportunity to comb through the past, the hurt feelings, the misunderstandings, and put them to rest. Squeeze out the tears related to these past events and soak in the lessons learned. We don’t have to repeat these themes over and over again; we can get it straight now, and move on.

The next important signal is from Mars at 22 degrees Sagittarius. It is the pinnacle of a “Yod”, and includes Jupiter and Uranus. This aspect is created when two planets are sextile each other (Jupiter in Cancer and Uranus in Taurus), and both are inconjunct a third; Mars. This aspect asks us to reimagine, adapt and improve, and represents an opportunity for creative problem-solving and personal growth by forcing adjustments and adaptability. Mars represents how we use our energy, and in Sagittarius we are shooting for our highest mission. The challenge from Jupiter asks us to temper our enthusiasm with patience and consideration for others. And Uranus is all about freedom, self determination, self rule. This uncomfortable energy between action and surprise will push you into overdrive in the best way. That project you've been stuck on might suddenly get the inspiration it needed, or you'll find yourself approaching old challenges from angles you never considered before. Flow with this energy and see new solutions to old problems.

So, use this time wisely, and consider who you want to be in the coming year!

On November 19th at 10:47 PM PST, the Sun and Moon align at 28 degrees Scorpio 12 minutes, creating the New Moon. From now until that moment we have an opportunity to set our minds on all things Scorpio, and to set the most important goals for our own transformation.

This Fixed Water sign is quite powerful, ruled by Pluto, the agent of change. He says “we can do this the easy way, or the hard way; that’s up to you.” Pluto rules obsession, sex, taboos and hidden truths that must be revealed for deep personal growth. Therefore, Scorpio rules deep emotions that hold secrets that limit our transformation, like shame, blame, and anger. This sign deals with the subconscious, the cycles of death and rebirth, and intense change.

So, knowing the New Moon represents a new beginning, we look to this sign for what it represents in the zodiac, and where we need a personal tune up. Do not fear, this is the sign of the Scorpion or the Eagle, depending on your interpretation. The “hard way” is that of the Scorpion, hurting others and scurrying away. The “right way aka easier way” is to admit your own shortcomings, and one by one address them. Heck, make a list on paper, on your tablet or computer, of what you wish to manifest in your life. This is also the sign of shared values, as in monies or possessions you inherit or share with someone else.

There are many aspects to the Scorpio stellium on this New Moon; Mercury shares the 28 degree position of Scorpio EXACTLY! So, the Sun, Moon and Mercury align together, and are part of a Grand Water Trine. Jupiter at 25 degrees Cancer and Saturn at 25 degrees Pisces, AND Neptune at 29 degrees Pisces (phew!) create this aspect. These Water signs all deal with the emotional self, full of empathy, intuition and creativity. These planets support the deep nature of Scorpio, helping us to feel worthy of change. Jupiter in Cancer is like the strong Mother, clearing the path for her children to find their way easier. Saturn and Neptune are working together to soften our outlook into a more spiritual view, and to build a new reality built on self esteem.

There is one challenge here from Uranus at 29 degrees Taurus, as it opposes the Sun, Moon and Mercury. Uranus is in its final phase of this transit, ending in April of 2026. While transiting this sign it wants us all to take this time to reevaluate our values, our stability, and our resources. This planet of freedom wants to challenge old structures, in order to clear space for new possibilities. To see the outdated patterns we still abide by and whether they still serve us or if we should renew our plans. When it opposes the Sun, we behave impulsively, feel restless and unstable, dealing with a life full of changes. Opposite the Moon, we seek emotional freedom which can make life very unbalanced. And when it is opposite Mercury we have sudden events or advancements in progressive actions that can lead to communication breakthroughs, sudden ideas, or shocking statements, creating a dynamic but potentially erratic period for thinking and conversation. This transit encourages breaking out of old patterns of thinking and finding freedom to change your mind.

So keep an open mind as to the changes you need to make in order to make leaps and bounds toward the real you. The one who came here to make a difference, free from fear and self limitation. This is a time in our lives where we can use these energies to assist us more easily, as they've laid out the welcome mat to receive our greatest hopes, wishes and dreams to bring to fruition. Now is the time to set the plan for your unburdening. Take some time before this New Moon to clear your mind of the past and set a course for your future.

On November 5th at 5:19 AM PDT we have a SuperMoon, the closest one of the year! The Sun is at 13 degrees Scorpio 23 minutes, and the Full Moon is at 13 degrees Taurus 23 minutes. If you look to the east you will see a HUGE Moon rise.

When we have a Full Moon we look back to when the Moon was new and what we had in mind at that time. It was new on April 27th of this year, when Spring was solid and wildflowers and bulbs were blooming. At that time, home and its comforts were the focus, after enduring winter. And looking forward to Summer and everything it brings was the target. With Venus ruling the Moon, emotional security and stability are paramount. Also important is beautification, whether it’s inside or outside. What was your goal at this time?

Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs, opposite each other in the zodiac. This axis represents the concept of ownership, value, and control. It explores the stressors between giving and receiving, creation and destruction, and the desire for security versus transformation. Taurus, ruled by Venus, (focused on possession and stability) and Scorpio, ruled by Mars and Pluto, (focused on death, rebirth, and transformation) both deal with values. The interplay between these signs represents the cycle of life, from the earthiness of Taurus to the intensity of Scorpio, and can manifest as powerful, entrenched themes in a person's life.

In this reading these luminaries have no other aspects from other planets. But, there is an interesting interplay between Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto called the “Mystic Rectangle” aspect. This configuration of planets contains two oppositions, two trines, and two sextiles; all between these four planets! It is a closed aspect pattern, meaning it is unaffected by other aspects in the reading. This energy brings a time of opportunity, challenge, and spiritual guidance.

First the oppositions. Mars at 0 degrees Sagittarius is opposite Uranus at 0 degrees Gemini. Exactly. When Mars is in this sign, you aim high and are not content simply with a quiet, secure existence. You like to stretch your limits, to see how far you can go, and to take risks. But when it opposes Uranus in Gemini you may have an explosive temper when your will is blocked. You have a superabundance of energy and need much personal freedom to do things in your own style and at your own pace. Jupiter at 25 degrees Cancer is opposite Pluto at 1 degree Aquarius. Jupiter expands and exaggerates the sign, making you want to “people please” and take care of everyone's feelings. But when it opposes Pluto in Aquarius, the sentimentality and emotional take is lost to a more objective take on transforming what limits you. The issues are all about opposite natures, beliefs and observations of how life works. The tensions they bring are here to transform us.

Now the trines to the rescue, pointing the way to wisdom, creativity, and soulful navigation. Mars in Sagittarius is trine Jupiter in Cancer. You can enjoy healthy competition and have a rather playful, good-humored attitude toward it. You may compete with yourself to see how far you can go or how much you can accomplish. You will like to keep stretching your limits under this influence. Uranus in Gemini is trine Pluto in Aquarius. Uranus in Gemini brings progressive thinking and curiosity, while Pluto in Aquarius has a strong emotional need to cooperate and unite together with others.

Last but not least the sextiles. Mars is sextile Pluto, giving us a strong sense of a mission, knowing instinctively that to achieve anything great, one must eliminate unneeded activities, and give oneself wholly to the goal one wishes to accomplish. And, Jupiter is sextile Uranus, potentially bringing breakthroughs, inventive energies, and radical ideas.

The challenges brought forth from this Mystic Rectangle via the oppositions are moderated by the trines and sextiles of the planets. We have a grand opportunity on this Super Full Moon. Look to yourself and how powerful you feel, or don’t feel. Why is that? Dig deep. What do you fear? Dream the bigger dream, and see where you can fit within it. Take a chance, do something different and step forward. Use all of these energies to climb higher than before, and celebrate your efforts! Life is all about the process, so hang in there and enjoy the ride:)
