On January 18th at 11:52 AM PST the Sun and Moon align at 28 degrees Capricorn 44 minutes, creating the New Moon. On this occasion, the Moon rises and sets with the Sun, making it not present in the night sky. It will be the perfect night to see the stars and what we normally cannot view with the Moonlight.

This is our first New Moon of the year, and time to envision our future with regards to our career, our work and reputation, and our ambitions. Capricorn is the builder of the zodiac, the sign that guides our goals in life, and brings us maturity. Ruled by Saturn, the taskmaster, it’s time to realize our responsibilities and attend to them. We can find practical solutions to our life's quests and put them into practice. Saturn will bring us limitation in order to steer us toward fulfillment, through the hard work needed to be successful. We access maturity through challenges and delays. Capricorn is a Cardinal Earth sign, and begins the Winter season starting with the Winter Solstice. The Earth element is grounding, encouraging this sign to climb the mountain of personal success.

At the time of this New Moon, the planets and luminaries have gathered together in a stellium in Capricorn, including the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars. Venus and Pluto conjoin these; Venus at 1 degree Aquarius, and Pluto at 3 degrees Aquarius. This is our team for collaboration and change in the coming year. The world and its people are changing so quickly, take a moment and focus on what is needed to change in your life. First the stellium in Capricorn.

When Mercury conjoins the Sun and Moon, we have a heightened period for communication, intellect, and emotion, which can lead to overthinking or mental stress. Or, it can promote creativity and deep connections with others. This aspect signifies a strong mental-emotional link with the self (Sun/Moon) through Mercury's thinking and expression, making it ideal for communication but demanding clarity to avoid confusion. Mars conjunct the Sun and Moon brings us a highly energetic period where your core identity (Sun) and emotional world (Moon) are activated by Mars' fiery, assertive drive. This aspect leads us to immense motivation, potential conflict, increased physical energy, passion, and a need for bold action. Mars is pushing you to assert yourself and potentially leading to breakthroughs or burnout if not channeled constructively.

Venus in Aquarius conjunct the Sun and Moon brings a humanitarian grace to the table. Venus rules love, beauty, and values, and in Aquarius it is all about freedom. Friendship, mental connection, and individuality in relationships is paramount, so expressing affection through shared ideals or humanitarian efforts rather than traditional romance is possible. This is a very creative aspect, and with the compassionate energies available now, we can create something for ourselves and others to enjoy. The conjunction to Pluto in Aquarius focuses on dismantling old power structures, embracing collective innovation, new technology, and social evolution. We are moving towards inclusivity, shared resources, challenging outdated traditions with deep, transformative, sometimes disruptive energy, bringing radical change and forcing societal awakening to build more equitable systems. It is the end of an old era, and we are all here to help create the new one.

The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars all trine Uranus at 27 degrees Taurus. Uranus is the planet of freedom. This transit challenges Taurus's love for the status quo, urging us to embrace new technologies for food, energy, and economics, moving towards sustainable abundance rather than stagnant materialism. Uranus shakes up what Taurus holds dear—money, food, the environment, and our senses—introducing tech (like AI in farming) and new systems for resources. Combining these energies makes this a powerful time for new plans, new thinking, new emotions, all things evolving. Be fearless and stand tall, take this initiative and create abundance with meaning and love.

On January 3rd at 2:02 AM PST we have a Full Super Moon; the first of 2026. The Sun is stationed at 13 degrees Capricorn 2 minutes, and the Moon at 13 degrees Cancer 2 minutes.

Full Moons are the culmination of hopes and dreams cast when the Moon was New. In this case, the Moon was new in Cancer June 25th of 2025. This was the beginning of Summer, and a time where family, security and our home was most important. Were the goals you set designed around delivering on the love and inspiration of the longer days, or the garden, fixing your home, or working to bring your family closer? Now look at where you are in your life right now, and if you’ve arrived at the goals you set. If you haven’t fully realized your goals, you can take this time to pause, reconsider and live in the dreamscape of what you wish to realize.

Capricorn Sun directs us to be ambitious, responsible and practical. This Earth Sign is eager to create a foundation from which to build upon. Capricorns build upon their last success, learn from their mistakes, and appreciate the material things that life offers. They work hard for what they receive and it‘s lasting rather than fleeting.

With this Full SuperMoon, shining brighter and appearing so much closer than we usually see, we are emotionally set up to discover the cracks in the surface. Things that normally get swept under the rug can rear their ugly head and beg for attention. Cancer is ruled by the Moon in astrology, and all things regarding Mother, home and family are fair game for outbursts. Unresolved issues from the past can surface in order for us to see them through our “new eyes”, ones that have seen from experience we are always learning and growing through the mistakes we make. The aspects the Moon makes to the Sun and planets are very important for us to consider.

The planets Venus and Mars join forces with the Sun to oppose the Full Moon. Venus at 12 degrees Capricorn creates pressure/anxiety regarding the balance of your practical responsibilities and your emotional needs. Balancing career with the nurturing of home and family. These challenges inspire a closer look at your finances and your long term goals, and how you wish to achieve them. What Cancer Moon inspires is a deep and authentic connection with your family.

Mars at 14 degrees Capricorn inspires us to demand respect as we are reliable, consistent and never give up. Opposite the Full Moon the theme becomes even more contentious between our physical and emotional well being. Our ambitions can play tug-of-war with our need for fulfillment. Once learning to love what we do for income by taking chances for change, we can harmonize our life. This dynamic calls for balancing hard work with self-care, setting boundaries for your emotions, and finding security in your inner world while pursuing external success.

These most important goals are ours to reach for now. Slowly, strategically and methodically review what needs attention, and set doable goals that you can accomplish. Remember the balance of your career/work and home life are the turf now, so create away!

On December 21st at 7:03 AM PST we have our first moment of Winter. It begins with the shortest day and longest night of the year. We have left the fiery adventurer of the Sun in Sagittarius behind and are entering the Cardinal Earth sign of Capricorn.

As 2025 is nearing its end, we shift gears into this grounded energy. It is the dreamtime where nature beds down and hibernates, having made preparations to survive the season ahead. Likewise, we have gathered all of Summer’s and Autumn's harvest and prepared them for our time inside.

All over the world people celebrate this moment in time. The Germanic festival of Yule commemorates this day with bonfires, feasting and decorating with greenery. In China families make Chinese Dongzhi (tangyuan dumplings) to symbolize the intimacy of family love. In India, Makar(a) Sankranti is the celebration of the Sun's journey from the Southern to the Northern Hemisphere and is considered an auspicious time. Makar translates as 'Capricorn' and Sankranti means 'transition'. In Scandinavian countries a festival of light with girls dressed as St. Lucia, leading processions with candles to symbolically bring the light back. The world honors this time of the year by gathering together and celebrating the return of the light to come, each day getting longer.

Capricorn is serious, disciplined, and quietly ambitious energy; where we are driven to prove ourselves by achieving material accomplishments and success. Our work, our position in the world, and our contributions to society are very important to us at this time. We will persevere through enormous hardship and frustration in order to reach a goal we have set for ourselves, and  might sacrifice much in the area of personal relationships and home life in order to do so.

While we prepare for our own celebrations, we can see what this new season will bring us by looking at the aspects of the Sun at 0 degrees Capricorn from the other planets. Every year we have a different alignment as the planets move into new signs with new energies. This year the Sun is conjoined by Venus at 26 degrees Sagittarius, and Mars at 4 degrees Capricorn. With Venus joining with the Sun, we look for the bright "Evening Star" (Venus) near Jupiter and Saturn in the southwest after sunset in late December 2025 for a beautiful planetary show. Venus will move into the sign of Capricorn on Christmas Eve. This conjunction gives us a strong need for kindness, friendship, and affection. Our artistic and creative powers are also strong now, and we can do everything in a harmonious, gracious, and pleasing manner. The conjunction to Mars helps us to be assertive, energetic, active, courageous, and vital at the same time. We will have a very strong physical drive which expresses itself as sexuality and passion, a desire to compete with others, and a tendency to fight. We’ll have a victorious spirit and the will to win. Blending these energies can bring us the power to set a straight course to success while keeping our feet on the ground.

The Sun also has a square from Saturn at 25 degrees Pisces and Neptune at 29 degrees Pisces. The square from Saturn can bring feelings of personal inadequacy, inhibitions, and self-doubt. We’ll have a cautious, careful, realistic attitude toward life and take our responsibilities, obligations and duties very seriously. With the square from Neptune we will be extremely sensitive and imaginative, and can easily get lost in our dreams, fantasies, and visions. We are also drawn to mysticism and have deep spiritual aspirations and yearnings now. These aspects can detour our hopes and wishes if our self esteem is low. Remember this time of year we have the opportunity to go inward, to seek our highest goals through our minds and hearts.

Celebrate this day with new hopes, new dreams, and build your castles in the dreamtime in order to manifest them in 2026! Blessings to the world at this magical time.
