We have arrived! It is the first month of the year 2021, and with it is our first New Moon of the year. The Sun and Moon are conjoined at 23 degrees Capricorn 13 minutes on January 12th at 9 PM PST. This New Moon can inspire us all to rebuild a solid foundation for our lives. This Cardinal Earth sign cares most about security and strength, and seeks the most advantageous path to success in every endeavor.

This Earth sign rules the first month of Winter, where much of our work is done indoors. It’s comfortable operating from the inside out; strategically planning the best moves on the chessboard of life before taking them out to the world. All factors must be looked at, scrutinized, and committed to in order to prosper. This no nonsense Earth sign is looking for results, so there’s no better time than now to set the course for success.

At this moment, Pluto is transiting at 24 degrees Capricorn; one degree away from these luminaries. Pluto is the transformer of the zodiac, like the Phoenix that crashes, burns, and rises from the ashes. It represents re-creation, making something new out of the ashes of the past. In the sign of Capricorn it continues the work of transformation in our government, our institutions, our structure’s we have built our lives upon. But on a personal level, it lends us the power to make a fresh start. It compels us to act, so there’s no need to resist. The New Moon is traditionally the time to make new plans based on the results of prior choices made. With this one, we are supported to “let go” and transform what we used to believe into a more current appraisal of the possibilities.

There are other planetary influences happening here. Mars (2 degrees Taurus) and Uranus (6 degrees Taurus) are transiting together. Taurus is a FIXED Earth Sign, stubborn, determined, grounded and anchored. Mars rules war, conflict and how we use our energy, and Uranus rules sudden events that bring change. Hmmmmm....

Let us add to this Jupiter (5 degrees Aquarius) and Saturn (3 degrees Aquarius) creating a tight square to Mars and Uranus. Aquarius is a FIXED Air Sign, denoting intellect that is unique and original. Jupiter rules higher thought, foreign lands and travel, and Saturn is the planet of gravity that manifests spiritual qualities on the Earth plane.

So when planets square each other, especially when two planets square two other planets, they create pressure, agitation, nervousness. Considering the state of our world, these FIXED planetary influences are pushing our buttons to get a reaction. Where do we stand? On shaky ground, or a firm base? We are talking physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We are now reactivating our lives under new conditions, and we are surviving the dictates of our world. How can we learn to thrive

under these circumstances? By thinking outside the box, by asking for guidance and listening when we get it. We are the physical representation of our soul, and with that comes the commitment to survive under all situations. It comes naturally, all life looks to survive by adapting, compromising, learning and transforming. Go forward with excitement; to be part of this new existence. Treat it like the adventure of your lifetime! Be proud with each step you make in the right direction. Learn from every step that didn’t fulfill your goal to grow.

We have learned in this past year that we truly are all in this together. We are all human beings living through this grand experiment called life. The more we live in awe of our reality, the more we live in gratitude of what we do have in our existence, the better our adventure is. Consider the wisdom of the planets and luminaries, setting us all up for these current events. The masterful design of their inner workings and purpose. When we act from this place of KNOWING we are so powerful.

So, let us begin 2021 knowing we are rebuilding our lives, based on what we have learned. We are so blessed with these heavenly bodies encouraging us to transform and live in our new reality free of limiting fears. Take a chance, don’t be afraid.

Our last full Moon of 2020 lands on December 29th at 7:28 PM PST. This year our first Full Moon was also in the sign of Cancer and was a Lunar Eclipse (1/10/2020). It was a very powerful Full Moon to begin our year of changes. Now, this Full Moon closing out the year is illuminating the way forward into 2021.

The Moon rules the sign of Cancer, and is at home in this energy. It speaks of our home and family, our physical house and life it provides. This is the sign of Mother; the nurturing qualities of giving, sharing and loving. Now, as this Full Moon lights the way, we see where we stand after this past year full of fear, limitation and chaos. Where are the comforts of the past? Where is the security that this sign seeks to find? What have we learned about our creature comforts and whether or not we can exist without them?

The world has been stripped of the past. Nothing is as it was before. Or is that true? We have been taken into a world that doesn’t resemble what we have known, what provided us the safety and dependability we all thought we knew. Our eyes have been opened to so many issues that have been hidden from our view. Some people are in a state of shock, traumatized by the events going on. But others, having been forced to see truth being exposed everywhere, have taken off the rose colored glasses. They are adapting and adjusting to the changes and looking for new ways to succeed.

The truth is we are still here, our families surround us, our caring and loving nature has been reinforced as we see others’ suffering that we can help. We’ve seen people sharing what they have with their neighbors, people forming groups to gather and deliver food to those in need, loving gestures inspired by our situation. But then we see others acting out of fear, taking from others and destroying the sense of peace. Where do you stand?

The planet Uranus at 6 degrees Taurus is sextile the Full Moon. Uranus is the planet of freedom, and in the sign of Taurus, it represents our world, our Earth. This is such a blessing as this planet inspires us to de-clutter our emotions. To do a house cleaning of our sensitive nature. Uranus brings about sudden changes, and frees us from limitation. It shows us where we are stuck, stubbornly holding on to beliefs and fears that are long past their shelf life. So this team of Uranus and the Full Moon have our well being in store, if we are able to surrender to a new truth. So everything is different, so the world looks and behaves differently, set a goal to find a way to free yourself to a new you. There’s no sense in resisting, the course has been set for you.

Uranus also trines the Sun in Capricorn, another blessing! Sometimes it's so difficult to make the fundamental changes in our lives, but with this trine it can be exciting and creative. You can experience and express yourself more effectively than ever. Look to what needs improvement, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual and use this uplifting energy to reach your new you. Make the changes now, rather than being forced to make them in a way that is less pleasant.

So, on this last Full Moon of 2020, cozy up with those you love by a warm fire, a delicious meal, a good story about your relatives and those you care so much about. Let us get back to the basics of caring for each other, free from expectations. With our new understanding of the world, we must be optimistic and hopeful and continue on. Allow tears to wash away the pain and sadness and hold on to those you love. Let us make our New Years promise to ourselves to share more, love more, and care more in 2021.

December 21st 2020 at 2:02 AM PST marks the first moment of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest night and the shortest day of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere, it marks the first moment of Summer. For centuries cultures in the North have celebrated this moment, as the “old Sun” dies, and the “new Sun” is born. It is a time of hope, as the days continue to get longer, we see the opportunities that Spring will bring.

But this is the Dreamtime of winter. When we change course from being outdoors to going inside to create. Capricorn is an Earth Sign, and is the Builder of the Zodiac. What are you dreaming into creation? Capricorn’s ruler is Saturn which governs duty, limitation, and self discipline; all things practical and responsible. It teaches us through frustrated effort to take the necessary steps to achieve our goals.

Capricorn is the first month of winter, making its energy Cardinal, leading and authoritative. It’s glyph is the goat, carefully plodding up the rocky mountain of life, surefooted and cautious.

The Sun is at 0 degrees Capricorn 0 minutes, and conjoined it is Mercury the messenger at 0 degrees Capricorn. Together, the Sun and Mercury deliver us into a new way of thinking, built upon a new secure foundation. Mercury in Capricorn is no nonsense thinking and planning, and takes into account everything necessary to build anew.

On this Winter Solstice we have an event that hasn’t happened for 400 years; their last closest conjunction was in 1623, and the closest observable since 1226! Saturn and Jupiter are together at 0 degrees Aquarius. These two planets have been traveling together with Pluto over 2020 in Capricorn; breaking down systems of government, finance, all the institutions we depend on in our culture. Now we are moving forward, and these two planets signal big changes at the move into Aquarius. Aquarius is about freedom, humanitarian goals, rebellion and revolution. The tired outworn systems of the past have crumbled, and a new reality is being built.

But with this introduction of the new Aquarian energies, we are still in the Sunsign of Capricorn for the next month. And Pluto will continue through the sign of Capricorn until November of 2024. So the inner work continues as we dream our next reality. Over the next few weeks it is finally time to KNOW who you are, what are your values, and how do you wish to proceed into our new world. It will be tested, time and again, but now is the time to formulate who you wish to be. Think outside the box.

Rather than go backwards into a life you’ve been forced to leave behind, look to the future with new ambitions. Do an inventory of all of your assets, talents, beliefs and fears and see what dialogue you have with your higher self. One by one you can eliminate that which no longer serves you, and free yourself from the past. We are living side by side as a new world is being birthed. Who would you like to be in that new world? Take yourself seriously and go for the gusto!

Sometimes we just don’t know what we really have available to us until we step out on a limb and take a chance. Don’t be afraid to fail; try each attempt fully and find out from your actions whether or not that was the right direction for you. We are being led by our higher selves more than ever now if only we listen. Remember the old adage, “Knock and the door will be opened to you”? How can doors open unless we knock?

So with this flood of energies assisting us along the way, keep your eyes on the prize.
