On July 9th at 6:16 PM PDT the Sun and Moon conjoin at 18 degrees Cancer 1 minute. At this moment, we also have many planets involved in many aspects that affect the Sun and New Moon. We have a grand opportunity here if we know how to navigate it.

To begin with, the Moon rules the sign of Cancer. It is the sign of the Mother, home, and family. This Water Sign is very sensitive and compassionate, and very strong as well. It is a Cardinal sign; one who leads and delegates. The energy is very resourceful, finding ways to respond to stimuli through listening to the inner voice, or intuition. It is a passive sign, but active energy, and wants to be busily working on whatever is necessary. So when the Moon is in Cancer, we naturally think about what is most comforting, familiar, and emotional. And, when it’s a New Moon, we have a brand new cycle ahead of us.

First the good news;) The Sun and Moon are sextile Uranus at 14 degrees Taurus. A sextile is a harmonic aspect between planets and luminaries. The planet Uranus represents freedom, change, thinking outside the box. It compliments these luminaries in Cancer, in the sign of Taurus, as it directs our attention to the Earth and it’s well being. It sustains us, after all, and we are the guardians.

The Sun and Moon are trine Neptune at 23 degrees Pisces. An even more fortunate aspect; the trine delivers flowing energies from Neptune adding more care and empathy for ourselves and others. This Water sign can see how to proceed by looking at past experiences and making new choices. Pisces is the sign of endings, rules the last house of the Zodiac, and shows us what is important to look at before making new beginnings.

Here come the challenges! The Sun and Moon are opposite Pluto at 25 degrees Capricorn. The opposition brings high drama, mood swings, relationship issues to the party. Pluto wants to bring transformation through whatever means necessary, so to get ahead of this, look at what pushes your buttons. What stresses you out, makes you feel like you need changes, but looks like it’s impossible. Dig deep for the answers so you're not stuck regretting an outburst. Pluto in Capricorn is concerned with business, finances, and practical affairs. Iron out the wrinkles in your life as presented to you on this occasion; expect the unexpected.

Venus and Mars are conjoined in the sign of Leo. A very proud sign, Leo is a Fire sign, full of fury and initiative. Venus represents what we love and value, and Mars shows the actions we take and the courage we have. Unrelated to the New Moon, but happening simultaneously, these planets square Uranus. Where Uranus was blessing the Sun and Moon, it is challenged by Venus and Mars. Venus under this effect wants emotional excitement, love and romance, and the freedom to explore. Mars is restless, impulsive and rebellious. So a sudden attraction to someone new? An infatuation can happen that interferes with the status quo. If any of this rings true, you might consider getting to work on this before it becomes a melt down;) Venus and Mars also oppose Saturn at 11 degrees Aquarius. Venus in Leo craves love, but opposite Saturn, intimacy is difficult. It reminds us of those who undervalue us, take advantage of us. Mars under this influence can struggle with anger and frustration, denying the self and it’s needs in order to take care of business.

So the opportunity lies in the ability to seek the higher ground, to open our hearts to our loved ones and care deeply for them, as well as us. Cancer is the sign of the nurturer, and we can all use some care and kindness. These other planets shake up our calm to redirect our energies to what we can make out of the present. The Sun and Moon tell us to look through our past to see the way to the future. No more mistakes made after lessons learned. Under this influence we must hold ourselves to a higher standard in order to gain our own respect. Life is full of choices; now is the time to make those choices and to live by them. Consistently.

This is a grand occasion for an evening adventure with good food and good company. Share what you have with others, and enjoy your creation!

On June 24th at 11:40 AM PDT, the Sun is stationed at 3 degrees Cancer 28 minutes, opposite the Moon at 3 degrees Capricorn 28 minutes. We’ve just experienced the Summer Solstice; the first day of Summer, setting us up for this last SuperMoon of 2021. Both of these signs are Cardinal, the first of their seasons. We are blessed with initiative, ambition and goals that improve our lives under these signs. But the Sun in Cancer is a Water sign, quite different from the Moon in Capricorn/Earth sign. Let me explain.

When we have a Full Moon, we ALWAYS have the Sun and Moon in opposite signs. They are ALWAYS in the same mode or qualities, as in Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable (First, second or third month of a season) So, each month we have the opportunity to work on and challenge our beliefs when dealing with one of each of the three modes. This month (Cardinal), we are looking at our ability to begin anew, the summer season. This Full SuperMoon is called the Full Strawberry Moon; and I am here to tell you it is perfectly named, as my strawberries are ripening now!

We are looking at ourselves through the

Sun’s lens in Cancer (emotional, sensitive, empathetic) and the Moon’s lens of Capricorn (the material builder, practical, success oriented). Where is the harmony or disharmony between these parts of ourselves? How do we better our own selves in these departments? The Full Moon brings these opposite energies to our attention in order to balance the way we behave and what we believe in. Are we secure enough (Cancer) to create (Capricorn)? Do we feel (Cancer) like we deserve to climb up the ladder of success (Capricorn)?

At the same time there is a Sextile from the Full Moon to Jupiter at 2 degrees Pisces. This aspect brings more harmony, good fortune and joy to the mix. It adds a complimentary Water element (Pisces) that softens the blow of whatever needs to be admitted. The Water signs are soothing and compassionate, and when looking at what keeps us from performing in the world as we wish we could, this loving energy reminds us we are all loved by our Creator and are here to Co-Create. Maybe we’ve believed things that kept us from being all we could be when we heard it in our youth, but we are no longer children with hurt feelings. We are fully capable of extending our creative selves in whichever direction we are drawn to.

Cancer energy brings new ideas to the kitchen, nutritious and delicious! Capricorn wants to make the kitchen more efficient and beautiful! Wherever your creativity lies, explore it under these conditions to free yourself from your past interpretation and try something new!

Another great activity is gardening, bringing in edibles and beautiful flowers that are colorful and fragrant. This lightens our mood, keeps us nurturing and being nurtured. This time of the year you can’t go wrong creating a garden space, whether in pots on a deck, or a planting bed, or a full fledged garden large enough to grow food for yourself and others. Connecting with nature in this way you are part of the cycles of life. The more you go outside and leave your phone or computer in the house, the more you will be directed by your inner guidance on how to improve yourself and your life.

The other planets involved in this event are Mercury in Gemini trine Saturn in Aquarius. These two Air signs bring the intellect to the party, with a variety of ideas and profound realizations. Also, Venus in Cancer is trine Neptune in Pisces, lending more positive emotional compassion and kindness. Trines are very positive and flowing energies.

At the same time the “Grand Fixed Cross” we had on the Summer Solstice has become a T-Square between Mars in Leo, Uranus in Taurus, and Saturn in Aquarius. These fixed signs will challenge our behavior, enlisting our stubbornness to keep us from change. In this T-Square, we look at Uranus in Taurus as the outlet for change. It points to the huge potential change in how we look at money, wealth, love and good fortune. It reminds us that all of us are worthy, here to Co-Create beauty, contentment and well being. Uranus is the planet of change, and if we don’t get stuck in the process, we can work with the Taurus energy to change our world, and how we fit in it.

So on this Full SuperMoon, celebrate the possibilities! Look at what is waiting for you on the other side of the tunnel, where the light is shining through. It may look like a dark passage, but the rewards are well worth it.

The Summer Solstice 2021

This year the Summer Solstice is on June 20th at 8:32 PM PDT. The Sun is positioned at 0 degrees Cancer 0 minutes heralding the first day of Summer. There are many reasons to celebrate this occasion, especially as it marks the time where we are coming out of the shadows and stepping out into the light of day. It has been an incredible year since the last Summer Solstice, and we have all learned so much! It is now the time to use our creativity and bring our dreams into reality.

Cancer is a Cardinal Water Sign; it begins the Summer season with love and compassion. Being cardinal energy, it initiates new ideas on how to make our physical world a better place to live. It begins with the home, Mother, our family and how we can improve our relationships with each other. It expands out to the world of people we engage with daily, how we treat them and are treated. Being a Water Sign, we are more intuitive, empathetic, and can walk in another's shoes before we judge them, with an open heart. But, this year we are presented with a very interesting planetary lineup that can keep us from reaching the heights we wish to reach. In understanding these energies, we can focus our attention where it is needed.

Two Grand alignments are happening on this day. The first is a Fixed Grand Cross, and the second is a Grand Water Trine. The Fixed Grand Cross looks just like it sounds, four planets squaring each other creating a cross. This is double trouble as these aspects create a very limited agenda, relying on routines, patterns, and what is familiar, keeping us stuck. And, they are all in Fixed Signs! The luminary and planets involved are the Moon in Scorpio, Mars in Leo, Saturn in Aquarius, and Uranus in Taurus. So here, depending on where this lands in your chart, we can be suspicious (Scorpio Moon) and angry (Mars in Leo), feeling misunderstood and blocked. The lessons continue about our collective humanity (Saturn in Aquarius) and just how can we be free to recreate our planet (Uranus in Taurus)? Look at your thoughts and feelings in these categories of life, to recognize where your work lies.

But the good news is we have a Grand Water Trine, where three luminaries and planets create a triangle. In this case it is the Sun in Cancer, the Moon in Scorpio, and Jupiter in Pisces. These aspects create harmony with each other, and open fortunate doorways to our well being. We see the synchronicity of elements in our lives, the positive changes we can make for ourselves. Where the Fixed Grand Cross can elicit fear of change, the Grand Water Trine washes away the tears and opens our hearts to goodness for ourselves and others. We just need to see where we are stuck first.

So, on this Grand Occasion, seek out the water closest to you, be it a bath, the river or lake, the ocean; a sacred environment for your celebration of the Water element. I love to celebrate the Solstice energy on the moment it arrives; on June 20th at 8:32 PM PDT. It will still be light out, so being outdoors is the most wonderful way to connect with nature at this time. We are focused on the Mother archetype and all it represents; life, nurturing, family and our home. We are all in the family of life including not only people but plants, animals and all things living. We are here as guardians of the Earth, and in this celebration we see the connectedness between ourselves and all of life. Set up your space with your power objects, be it crystals, cards, candles, flowers, and holy water. You can make your own blessed water by placing your most beloved crystals in a glass bowl of pure water under the Moon the night before. As you set out your water, set your intention on this water being charged with all the energies of our planets and luminaries in a harmonic way. Once you have accomplished this, you can keep this water for ceremonies in a glass jar or vessel.

First, admit your shortcomings, as you have believed them to be. Then ask, “is this really true?” Step out of yourself and take inventory of what has led up to this belief and how you would recommend to move past it; as if you were speaking to a dear friend. Take all the time you need to go down the list of imperfections as you see them, and renegotiate your feelings about them. Remembering all along that there are energies in this world that want to keep you stuck, adhering to old patterns so they can feed off of the fear and pain you are feeling. These can be people or entities you cannot see, but know are there to share in your dismay. This periscopes out to those in power who don’t have our highest good in mind. Don’t be blocked by the illusion that is shown to you through media and other’s beliefs, go to your core and see the truth for yourself.

Then once you have gone down the naughty list;), go to Mother and ask for her grace and insights. We all have a Universal Mother who is very powerful and wants the best for all her children. She wants us to be strong, healthy and vibrant in our lives, displaying our uniqueness and creativity. She knows we can’t do it alone, and encourages us to delegate where needed. She is adamant that we don’t sell ourselves short, don’t be a doormat, and remember to feel her power. So with that in mind, fill yourself with the Light on this longest day of the year and see your energy field glow with the colors of the rainbow! Know you are divinely connected to Spirit and feel her embrace.

Then begin anew.
