On July 23rd, 2021 at 7:36 PM PDT we have a Full Moon in the sign of Aquarius. The Moon is stationed at 1 degree Aquarius 26 minutes, and the Sun is 1 degree Leo 26 minutes. But, we also have ANOTHER Full Moon in Aquarius on August 22nd, when the Sun and Moon are opposed at 29 degrees. Wow! Just what does this mean for us?
Astrologers look at this phenomena of a double Full Moon as an ALERT. The first one will bring to light a culmination of what was set in motion with the Cancer New Moon we experienced on July 9th. Did you take the lead with nurturing yourself and others, connecting heart to heart with your loved ones? This Full Moon in Aquarius focuses on your uniqueness and how you perceive your reality. Aquarius is an Air Sign of “high humidity”, meaning compassionate intellect. Air signs are typically analyzing and communicating ideas, and this Air sign is concerned with humanity. It is ruled by the planet Uranus, the activator; a restless energy that seeks freedom, friendship and like minded conversations. Aquarius is a Fixed sign, and stubbornly persists in its quest for independence and truth. So we are collectively looking at the goals we set for ourselves and our wishes for our planet.
The Sun is opposing the Moon in the sign of Leo. Leo is ruled by the Sun and is exalted in this sign. Leo is a Fire sign, and its nature is to shine and light our way. The energy is strong, regal, authoritative; but it focuses on the self. This Sunsign desires admiration through creativity, love and romance, and generosity. The highest use of Leo power is to be a creative performer on life‘s stage. To inspire and uplift through one’s talents. To shine and be an example of what others can accomplish. To be generous with our power and give willingly without strings attached.
The Sun and Moon are affected by the planet Pluto at 25 degrees Capricorn; it opposes the Sun and conjoins the Moon. Pluto is the transformer, likened to the Phoenix crashing, burning, and rising out of the ashes changed. In the sign of Capricorn, Pluto is involved in transforming the structures we live by; government, finances, authorities in our lives. So while we are looking at our personal goals (Moon) and our need for recognition and respect (Sun), we may be thrown some global issues to sort out. Capricorn rules our career, profession, and reputation, and these are all subject to changes.
There are many planetary aspects happening simultaneously, the most common being the Inconjunct, or Quincunx. These include Sun inconjunct Jupiter, Moon inconjunct Venus, Mars inconjunct Neptune and Pluto. This aspect usually brings challenges that require adjusting to a new understanding. Where we usually seek harmony and balance, these planets point out where we must adapt, accommodate, and alter our actions for best results. We realize we have many parts to us, some get along and some don’t, but they all need a voice. This gives rise to the notion we are a work in progress, and in order to stay fluid in our efforts we must admit we have more to learn.
So this first Full Moon in Aquarius will ignite our imagination with profound objectives, newly formed ideas born of remnants of the past. It will set the pace for this mid-summer month by shaking us out of our doldrums and firing our jets into action. Allow the realizations to come forward from the inconjunct planetary influences to better come to terms with fine tuning your understanding of yourself.
Then, watch for the second Full Moon in Aquarius for the radical changes to be brought to the physical world. We have a huge opportunity to grow emotionally and see ourselves as part of the whole, working toward a more united humanity with the shared value of one for all and all for one.
