The Winter Solstice and the Great Conjunction

December 21st 2020 at 2:02 AM PST marks the first moment of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the longest night and the shortest day of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere, it marks the first moment of Summer. For centuries cultures in the North have celebrated this moment, as the “old Sun” dies, and the “new Sun” is born. It is a time of hope, as the days continue to get longer, we see the opportunities that Spring will bring.

But this is the Dreamtime of winter. When we change course from being outdoors to going inside to create. Capricorn is an Earth Sign, and is the Builder of the Zodiac. What are you dreaming into creation? Capricorn’s ruler is Saturn which governs duty, limitation, and self discipline; all things practical and responsible. It teaches us through frustrated effort to take the necessary steps to achieve our goals.

Capricorn is the first month of winter, making its energy Cardinal, leading and authoritative. It’s glyph is the goat, carefully plodding up the rocky mountain of life, surefooted and cautious.

The Sun is at 0 degrees Capricorn 0 minutes, and conjoined it is Mercury the messenger at 0 degrees Capricorn. Together, the Sun and Mercury deliver us into a new way of thinking, built upon a new secure foundation. Mercury in Capricorn is no nonsense thinking and planning, and takes into account everything necessary to build anew.

On this Winter Solstice we have an event that hasn’t happened for 400 years; their last closest conjunction was in 1623, and the closest observable since 1226! Saturn and Jupiter are together at 0 degrees Aquarius. These two planets have been traveling together with Pluto over 2020 in Capricorn; breaking down systems of government, finance, all the institutions we depend on in our culture. Now we are moving forward, and these two planets signal big changes at the move into Aquarius. Aquarius is about freedom, humanitarian goals, rebellion and revolution. The tired outworn systems of the past have crumbled, and a new reality is being built.

But with this introduction of the new Aquarian energies, we are still in the Sunsign of Capricorn for the next month. And Pluto will continue through the sign of Capricorn until November of 2024. So the inner work continues as we dream our next reality. Over the next few weeks it is finally time to KNOW who you are, what are your values, and how do you wish to proceed into our new world. It will be tested, time and again, but now is the time to formulate who you wish to be. Think outside the box.

Rather than go backwards into a life you’ve been forced to leave behind, look to the future with new ambitions. Do an inventory of all of your assets, talents, beliefs and fears and see what dialogue you have with your higher self. One by one you can eliminate that which no longer serves you, and free yourself from the past. We are living side by side as a new world is being birthed. Who would you like to be in that new world? Take yourself seriously and go for the gusto!

Sometimes we just don’t know what we really have available to us until we step out on a limb and take a chance. Don’t be afraid to fail; try each attempt fully and find out from your actions whether or not that was the right direction for you. We are being led by our higher selves more than ever now if only we listen. Remember the old adage, “Knock and the door will be opened to you”? How can doors open unless we knock?

So with this flood of energies assisting us along the way, keep your eyes on the prize.

December 2020’s New Moon Total Solar Eclipse

On December 14th at 8:16 AM PST, we have quite the solar event! The New Moon at 23 degrees Sagittarius 8 minutes joins with the Sun at the same sign and degrees, casting a complete shadow temporarily creating a Total Solar Eclipse. It can be viewed best in Chili and Argentina; and seen in South America, South West Africa, and Antarctica.

This amplifies the energy of the New Moon, bringing more drama and possibly unsettling or disruptive energies. It exaggerates the energy to be used, and it is up to each of us how we deal with it. The planets and luminaries involved in this event are in the element of FIRE, bringing action and a masculine/positively charged energy. No time to sit around and consider, time for achievement and accomplishment.

Sagittarius is a MUTABLE sign, one at the end of the season, making it’s dynamic energy flexible and adaptable. It lends a creative power for us to use to uplift our existence. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter, the higher teacher of our solar system, that expands and enlightens. It shows us the way out of our old patterns through a new lens. We see the possibilities, we’ve been through the teardown phase and are rethinking our futures.

Traveling with the Sun and Moon is Mercury, the messenger, at 20 degrees Sagittarius 6 minutes. Our mind is open to the powerful challenge we are given here, with all we have been exposed to and learned from this past year. The challenge can come in new information being released, and how it may turn our beliefs and worldview upside down. Remember the flexibility provided us with this team of energies working together to open our most sensitive and vulnerable selves. We are being made aware of more now than ever before.

Add to this the planet Mars at 20 degrees Aries 43 minutes. It TRINES the Sun and Moon and adds more fireworks to this Total Eclipse. Mars is at home in the sign of Aries, and takes our attention from the collective to ourselves. How are we individually going to end 2020; with fear or optimism? We are at the crossroads; which way will we go?

For this stellar event it is important to join in and be fearless. The time of “instant karma” is here, so be careful what you ask for. We all as individuals can repurpose our lives to have more meaning, more creativity, more freedom if only we commit to the goal. The old rhetoric in our inner dialogue that keeps us from truly manifesting our chosen existence must stop. We must retrain ourselves to be looking at our lives in the positive framework. We still have choices to make daily. Are they for our highest good? Or are we surrendering to our old programming which keeps us stuck?

There’s no better time than the present to redirect our passion and power into projects that take us from here to there. Step out of low expectations and climb the ladder to your highest expression. Use the FIRE element to burn away the limiting beliefs and get ready for the Winter Solstice on Monday December 21, 2020. As the days get shorter, and the nights get longer, we are moving into the Dreamtime of Winter. Bears hibernate as do other animals, signaling the time to go inward to dream our next existence.

Everything around us is working to bring about change, so pay attention, and do what you know is best for you and your family. It’s all about LOVE after all.

Full Moon/Partial Lunar Eclipse in Gemini

On November 30th, 2020 we have the beginning of a HUGE SHIFT, energetically. We are at the end of a cycle pushing through hard before the new cycle begins. We have been enduring major retrogrades with the planets going over and over what isn’t working and how we can change. But it’s the change that has people worried; just what is about to happen and how will it affect me?

Well.....let’s start with the lunar event. On November 30th at 1:29 AM PST, the Moon opposes the Sun exactly. The Moon is at 8 degrees 38 minutes Gemini and the Sun is 8 degrees 38 minutes Sagittarius. With each Full Moon tensions arise, uncertainty and insecurity in our families, our most personal relationships are influenced emotionally. And with this event, it is our​ thinking,​ our ​beliefs​, our ​mental patterns​ are being tested and looked at. What needs to be vanquished from our way of viewing reality? What have we held on to, identified with, believed in that has changed this last year? The Gemini Full Moon represents our logical minds’ view of life, and the Sun in Sagittarius is our higher minds’ view. It is time to balance these polarities by letting go of our past and aiming higher for our futures. We are on the precipice of a New World, and how we participate is up to us. So bringing along all our limitations forward in how we see ourselves is unproductive.

Gemini and Sagittarius are Mutable signs. They are the last month of their season; Gemini with Spring, and Sagittarius with Autumn. So the energy is flexible, motivated to adapt and change. This energy encourages us and enables us to take the higher road to success in every aspect of our lives. The key is letting go. If we don’t take the initiative, the universe will make it happen for you. Part of this lunar event are the planets in relationship with the Sun and Moon. The Inconjunct or “quincunx” (planets/luminaries 150 degrees apart) between the Sun and Uranus (at 7 degrees Taurus) brings large amounts of creativity that needs an outlet or lends itself to anxiety and pressure. This energy brings an individuality to explore and source from. Adjustments need to be made in order to place our consciousness into our new form we are birthing.

The Moon is Inconjunct Venus at 10 degrees Scorpio. These are very different energies, Gemini and Scorpio. Gemini is light and skims the surface, while Scorpio goes deep, dark, down the rabbit hole. The adjustment here is about communicating true feelings rather than keeping secrets. Telling it like it is rather than hiding in private. But in this highly charged Partial Lunar Eclipse, our emotions run high and our ​past selves can be easily hurt.

We are ushered in to the end of how things were, and dreaming of how we want them to be. There are many changes coming for all of us, and as mentioned a huge shift is unfolding right before us. We are changing our perception of the world, and life is providing us the flexibility we never had prior to now, due to the structures that hold us together crumbling away. Our work is cut out for us; release the ties that bind us to our current condition, and open the door to freedom. We have to realize that every thought, every image in our minds' eyes is creating our next reality. So it is high time to change that image. Feel worthy of it. Know it is within our power to do so.

So, on this month's Full Moon, it’s time to pull out the journal and make lists of who you were, and now who you want to be. Include your physical self and well being, your emotional self and well being, and your soaring Spirit and it’s well being. Consider the changes you wish to make and how you can do it. In a perfect world, who are you? Now know the world is perfect, and make it so. Don’t limit yourself anymore to who you thought you were, and what you thought you deserved. Spirit applauds us all when we change our mind and love ourselves unconditionally.

December is bringing us all the opportunity to truly make this happen, with planets ending their retrograde and moving forward into new signs, new energies. We will leave the past in the past and recreate our reality. Be part of the change, support yourself and others as we morph into our next higher versions!
