The Vernal Equinox 2026

On March 20th at 7:46 AM PDT it is the first moment of the New Solar Year! The Sun arrives at 0 degrees Aries 0 minutes, and the show begins:)

This is the Awakening; releasing us from the season of hibernation, to the return of the season of action. We’ve spent much time contemplating what we want to do once Spring arrives. The last month of Winter, ruled by Pisces the Dreamer of the zodiac, was an inward time of creation. First the dream or the creative inspiration comes, then once Spring arrives, the Sun and planets support our activities. We’ve moved from the Water element into the Fire!

Aries is a Cardinal Fire sign; Cardinal as it is the first month of the season, and it is the first Fire sign of the Solar Year. Now is the time to step up your game, to work with the elements in order to put your best foot forward. This Fire sign, ruled by the planet Mars, is a no nonsense warrior when it comes to fighting for a cause, a purpose, a quest.

There are many planets aspecting the Sun on this occasion. I believe it sets the course for what’s possible in the year to come. The Sun and Moon are both in Aries at this time, setting us up for a balance between our physical and emotional state. A determined and focused energy. Saturn at 4 degrees Aries is conjunct the Sun, supporting us with strength of purpose and less fear. It is a mature, serious, reserved, self-disciplined power. We can be highly responsible and conscientious.

Uranus at 28 degrees Taurus is sextile the Sun. Uranus, the planet of change in this Fixed Earth sign, is changing our value system, inwardly and outwardly. It breaks down old financial systems, outdated ways of money exchange transform with trading, bartering and other modes of paying for goods. It can be a time of inventive and creative genius when this planet harmonizes with the Sun.

Neptune at 1 degree Aries is stationed alongside the Sun. Neptune in this sign inspires people that pursue religious and spiritual matters to do so in an independent and individualistic way. Freedom from dogma, what we’ve been taught, to reaching self actualization and a knowing. This sensitive and imaginative blend lends an attraction to artistic and creative pursuits and to mysticism.

And Pluto at 5 degrees Aquarius is sextile the Sun. Pluto the revolutionary, in the sign of collective transformation is setting the stage for rapid advancement with technology, social awareness, community driven projects, humanitarian efforts. We are driven to help our neighbors, those we meet on the street, in the market; crossing paths while sharing a smile to brighten the day.

So let’s celebrate the return of the Sun with cultures all over the world. Know the Earth supports us and loves when we support it, through all of her children. Time to plant those seeds:)
