On February 9th at 2:59 PM PST the Sun and Moon align, creating a New Moon in Aquarius. As the Sun and Moon share the placement of 20 degrees Aquarius 41 minutes, we have some lessons set out for us to learn about humanity and our place in it.
Aquarius is a Fixed Air Sign. Fixed because it lands in the center of the Winter season, when its energy is strong and stable. The quality of Air brings new thoughts and epiphanies as Uranus rules Aquarius. Uranus is the planet of activation, sudden change, realizations, and freedom. Here we have the chance to rethink our existence, and the energy the planets and luminaries provide helps us to do just that.
Because this is a fixed sign, the issue can arise where we are stubborn, persevering in one direction that in prior years hasn’t worked. Thinking outside the box is necessary for change, and to include others in our goals, as this is a sign of friendships that work in harmony for the betterment of humanity. We must rely on opening our minds to something new in order to not feel the shock this planet could provide. Looking outside ourselves to what our world is experiencing touches our very soul and beckons us to join in in the revolution, creating the new Earth through love. It begins in our own heart.
The Sun and Moon are squared by Uranus at 19 degrees Taurus. The square inspires us to be impulsive, restless, and spontaneous, as your life is apt to be somewhat unstable and full of sudden changes now. You feel extremely independent and crave excitement, adventure, freedom, and discovery. You cannot tolerate a routine or lifestyle that offers little in the way of surprise or challenge. Emotional freedom is very important to you now. This is the New Moon’s goal, to free yourselves now.
The planets Mercury and Pluto are also in Aquarius now, giving us even more reason to think more broadly and to be ready to clear the decks and begin again. They are square Jupiter in Taurus, giving us an abundance of ideas, interests, and plans for the future, and you may find it difficult to focus on any particular area. You are not a specialist now, for you seek to get the broad overview, to see the whole picture rather than closely examining any of its component parts. Philosophy, religion, or other areas of theoretical speculation will interest you now, and this is where you can find answers to long lost questions. You can aim high, have great vision, and won’t be satisfied
with yourself unless you can achieve your goals in a big way. You can be very opportunistic and ready to capitalize on a good idea. You may utilize contacts with prominent and successful people to your advantage, and are likely to win yourself an important and lucrative position in life.
So with everything pointing to change, just what needs a fresh start in your life? Whether it’s relationships, career, where you live, how you spend your time, it’s clearly time to assess what brings you joy or where you feel stuck. These planets are encouraging us to align our energies with those who share the same values. We are stronger in numbers, and can support each other through our transformation. The Earth is ready to support those who love her, protect her and her inhabitants. The Earth is ready to reinforce the abundance she has for all of us, and with courage and wisdom we can access the power to receive it.
