On June 20th at 1:50 PM PDT Summer officially begins with the Sun moving into the sign of Cancer! It is stationed at 0 degrees 0 minutes, and like every year this moment is called The

Summer Solstice. It is the longest day and shortest night of the year. The Sun rises and sets that day when the sun is farthest north in our sky. After this solstice, the sun will begin moving southward in our sky again. Today, we know that the solstice is caused by Earth’s tilt on its axis and by its orbital motion around the Sun. The Earth's North Pole is at maximum tilt toward the Sun.

People all over the world celebrate this moment, as it is time to recognize the light. Monuments have been erected all over the world to align with this moment. For instance, If you stand at the Sphinx on the summer solstice and gaze toward the two pyramids, you’d see the Sun set exactly between them. Cultures who live their lives by the seasons and what they represent are joyous to know the seeds they’ve planted have sprouted and sustenance is on its way, thanks to the Sun and the season. It has been universal among humans to treasure this time of warmth and light.

This Summer Solstice occurs at its earliest moment, regarding the date andtime, since 1796: when George Washington was President of the USA. The Solstice, on average, will continue getting earlier and earlier every 4 years until 2096, which will be the earliest solstice of the century. Then, that pattern will end.

The Sun will enter the first Water Sign of the Solar year; Cancer. This Cardinal sign is the sign of the Mother that gives birth and sustenance to the creation, whether it be human, animal, plant, or otherwise. This is nurturing energy, an energy governed by feelings and instincts, or body knowledge. Cancer senses what is necessary; they read between the lines and hear the message from within it. Cancer is a feminine/passive energy; receptive, yet with the Cardinal energy, it leads. Like the Mother in a family, she is a different leader than the Father, yet she leads.

There are two planets escorting the Sun this year; Venus at 4 degrees Cancer, and Mercury at 7 degrees Cancer. These are all conjoined, meaning they are close in degrees in the same sign. Together they mean more than just the Sun in this sign. Venus in Cancer is naturally sensitive and sentimental, deeply attached to family, old friends, familiar places, and the past.

When it conjoins the Sun it makes one loving and well-loved by others, and having a strong need for kindness, friendship, and affection. Your artistic and creative powers are also able to be developed and you’ll do everything in a harmonious, gracious, pleasing manner. Aesthetics are very important to you now. Your personal appearance and attractiveness are also very important to you today.

Mercury in Cancer inspires you to be highly interested in inner, subjective, and personal issues, and your thinking is based more on feelings, intuition, personal experiences, and prejudices rather than reason or logic. When it conjoins the Sun, you tend to see things from your perspective only and to be rather subjective. You will enjoy talking and expressing your views with a clear mind, have a love of learning and new experiences, and will desire constant mental stimulation and activity.

This collection of the Sun, Venus and Mercury will best be celebrated with loved ones, special friends, and those you really care about. Open up to them, tell your stories of the past to the younger among you, sharing special moments to be remembered long after you depart. This special day is going to be an emotional one, so being among those who really know you makes for comfort and fun. Enjoy the moment, the day, and have some Summer merriment!

On June 6th at 5:38 AM PDT, the Sun and Moon join forces at 16 degrees Gemini 18 minutes. This New Moon is also joined with Venus at 16 degrees Gemini, making for a stellium of mind bending love;) On this occasion we have an opportunity to reconsider all of the things, people, and values we care about and reshape our standards.

Gemini is a Mutable Air sign. This mutable sign rules the 3rd month of the Spring season, right around the corner from Summer. It displays signs of both seasons, one day cool and overcast and the next sunny and bright. The Air element is all about the mind and what we think about, focus on, and communicate about. Gemini’s glyph is the Twins, indicating the balance of thought from left brain and right brain. This sign is quite objective due to its Mercurial attention to detail. Being so flexible can bring a restlessness that can stop the

Gemini from staying with anything after its newness wears off.

It’s time to set up a new goal, as the New Moon is our chance to state the changes we wish to make in our lives. Due to the nature of this sign, your target ought to align with how you receive and deliver information. Are you satisfied with your current ways of communicating with others, or does it need a bit of pruning like a beautiful rose bush? Are your messages being heard, or are you speaking the wrong language? By this I mean are you changing how you relate to one or another by using words that stick comfortably with them, or just going on and on about how you feel? I’ve found through studying astrology that each of us have different meanings to words, and how they affect us. Some people are sensitive to verbage, and now we have our chance to really know how to speak correctly to others so as to be understood.

When Venus is in Gemini, you are more interested in a person's sense of humor and intelligence than in their physique. You like a partner who is mentally alive and who keeps you guessing a little bit, and you become restless and bored with someone who never asks questions, never changes or surprises you. Talking, sharing ideas, going places together, and learning new things together is very important to your happiness. You need lots of social stimulation, are something of a flirt, and like to have many friends of both sexes. A possessive, jealous partner is very stifling for you. With Venus in tow, we align our words with our heart. We care about others both objectively and subjectively. With Venus conjunct the Sun, you’ll feel loving and well-loved by others, and have a strong need for kindness, friendship, and affection. Your artistic and creative powers are strong and can be developed further. You will want to do everything in a harmonious, gracious, pleasing manner. Your personal appearance and attractiveness are also very important to you now. Add to this the conjunction with the Moon, and you have a very soft heart so others can appeal to your sympathetic, affectionate side. You especially care about the needs of children, mothers, and families, and you want a love partner who values marriage, home, and family as much as you do. Unkindness or harshness will offend you very much.

The Sun, Moon and Venus square Saturn at 18 degrees Pisces, giving this New Moon more to consider. The Sun in this relationship can bring feelings of personal inadequacy, inhibitions, and self-doubt. You have a cautious, careful, realistic attitude toward life and are highly responsible and disciplined with regard to your obligations and duties. You tend to work and struggle more than you need to, and to take yourself too seriously. You are driven to overcome these feelings by expressing more love and compassion in your relationships.

Add to this the Moon squaring Saturn, and you may feel that you must do something or be something other than what you are in order to receive approval and acceptance from others. You’ll be very sensitive to criticism and easily feel left out or neglected, and though you may appear cool or distant, you actually care very much about being included. Because you are so sensitive, it may seem easier for you to withdraw into a shell rather than risk the emotional bumps and bruises that can occur when you let others really know you in an intimate, personal way. Your reserve and caution can make establishing a close emotional rapport with others difficult for you, and you become very attached to the few people you consider "real friends". You can gain inner

security and strength through periods of solitude if you view them as times to nourish yourself and develop your own interests, rather than as times of loneliness.

And the square to Venus brings a serious disposition where you find it difficult to enjoy yourself in a lighthearted, open and playful way with others. If there were painful separations in your early life, you will feel very cautious about becoming close to people and sharing your feelings. Though you crave love and affection, intimacy

is difficult for you at this time. You need to learn to love and value yourself before you will find happiness in love.

With these planets and luminaries grooming us for the future, cast your glance at yourself now, and how you can improve your loving communications. How you can step out more with a jovial heart and make light out of what otherwise seems dark and difficult. We are all here to learn together and with this New Moon and our goal setting we can all become more comfortable with each other. We all want to be heard and understood in order to join the human race in its higher version, so do what you must to improve yourself. And celebrate this New Moon with laughter, joy and light!

On May 23rd at 6:53 AM PDT, the Sun and Moon oppose each other exactly at 2 degrees 55 minutes. The Sun is in Gemini and the Moon is in Sagittarius. Things are about to lighten up after a tense time! Where we’ve been doing the work of lightening our own load whether it’s physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, this Full Moon is one to celebrate.

This Mutable Fire sign Moon brings fuel to the fire through humor, creativity, energy and joy. The kind of joy that makes your jaw ache from smiling and laughing;) Mutable signs end the season, the last month where nature and the skies are already changing from one season to the next. The fire element is full of leadership potentials; others see their way more clearly after spending time with a Sagittarian. Open and generous, Sagitarrians enjoy a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and thrive on sociability and companionship. This Full Moon makes for an adventurous, playful, freedom-loving good time. The glyph for this sign is the Archer, shooting their arrow far into the distance. This sign seeks control of their own existence, never one to follow others. It urges us to connect with our inner voice and start living with more authenticity and truth.

As always, the Full Moon is the culmination of hopes, goals and plans set when the Moon is New in Sagittarius. This occurred on December 12th of last year. Just what did you hope for at that time? It was a good time to look at our beliefs and philosophies and see if they were ours to continue or to grow in different directions. Some of us may have been holding on to old versions, and have learned through study and meditation were outdated, or belonged to our parents and family. It was a time to be inspired to look higher up the ladder for confirmation of who we really are.

On this Full Moon we have planets adding to the story being told of this moment. Not only does the Moon oppose the Sun, but it also opposes Venus and Jupiter.

Normally, when the Moon and these planets come together in a positive alignment, they easily help us to embrace abundance. However, when the Full Moon, which governs our emotions, opposes Venus and Jupiter, we are being encouraged to let go of our old attachments in order to make space for the new. This is a powerful time to release goals we've outgrown or allow our dreams to mature and evolve. This high minded Moon sign makes it possible. The good news is that this transit will heighten your intuition, allowing information from the unseen to flow freely. Instead of seeking external validation for your actions, look internally to find your truth.

At the same time, the Moon sextiles Neptune and Pluto. The sextile to Neptune puts our emotions and our feelings on a straight course to spiritual fulfillment, if we would only

consider how special we are. Our dreams and visions can lead us in the correct direction if we follow them to fruition. Manifesting our highest goals is our reward.

The beauty and harmony of your surroundings has a very powerful effect on your emotions. You will be very sensitive and won’t want to be in an atmosphere where there is discord or dissonance. Gentle, kind hearted, and peace-loving now, you will give or sacrifice much in order to avoid a fight and to "make everyone happy".

The sextile to Pluto brings enjoyment of emotional intensity with an attraction to the mysterious, the unknown, and to dangerous or challenging experiences which draws on all of our inner resources. You’ll be able to handle an emotional crisis very well, and get to the deep roots of emotional problems and discover how to cure them. You’ll insist on bringing feelings between people out into the open, for you want real closeness and intimacy with others, without barriers or secrets.

So on this occasion we all have an opportunity to celebrate our climb to higher consciousness. I suggest gathering with like minded souls, maybe building a bonfire on the beach or a BBQ out in nature, and talking about your lives and dreams. We are more powerful in numbers and this sign especially loves company!
