On August 19th at 11:25 AM PDT the Moon opposes the Sun at 27 degrees Aquarius 15 minutes, bringing us the Full Moon. Aquarius is a Fixed Air sign; Fixed as it is the second month of Winter when the season is set in its fullness and set in its ways. The Air element brings wisdom and new information into the mix. It is an Air sign of high humidity, meaning it is the most compassionate and sensitive sign of the Air element.
This humanitarian sign invites us to determine what we think about our life in the midst of chaos in our world. Where we see there are troubles brewing throughout our own country we are elicited to rethink what it was we were hoping for when the Moon was new in Aquarius, on February 9th of this year. If you were building dreams concurrent with this energy, you may have been considering the injustice of humanity's plight and what you could do to help. Or thinking you could join with others to do something to help others who need it. How did you do with that? Were you able to begin a project that others wanted to be part of?
Now with the Full Moon we have an interesting aspect to the Sun and Moon, as well as Mercury at 26 degree Leo conjunct the Sun; Uranus is T-Square them all. As mentioned before, a T-
Square happens when two or more luminaries or planets oppose each other, and then square another. In this case, Uranus at 27 degrees Taurus exactly degree for degree affects these luminaries, and is only one degree away for Mercury. As mentioned before, the third heavenly body is the key to moving forward. “A t-square is like a pressure cooker of energy, edginess, and stress. It symbolizes facets of ourselves which are at odds with one another.” This Fixed T-Square is determined and stubborn energy, which needs to break free in order to change. The square to the Sun from Uranus makes one feel more impulsive, restless, and spontaneous, feeling your life is somewhat unstable and full of sudden changes. Let freedom ring could be your motto now. The square to Mercury makes us capable of unique discoveries and innovations, but you can tend to scatter your energies into too many directions at once and to make impulsive or hasty decisions. You can grasp ideas very quickly and become impatient with duller or more conservative minds. The square to the Moon highlights emotional freedom but your domestic life can be very unstable, while you crave excitement, change, and discovery, and cannot tolerate a routine or lifestyle that offers little in the way of surprise or challenge.
So what does Uranus in Taurus propose? This planet known as the Great Awakener forces us out of our comfort zone, seeking change. It rules Aquarius, and actually helps this Full Moon to rebel against complacency. It is grounded in Taurus, and re-focuses our attention toward our finances, material possessions, and our self-esteem. Because Uranus is an outer planet, the effects of its transit through Taurus will be seen on a global level, but you’ll certainly feel them personally as well. Even if we are resistant to the changes Uranus in Taurus brings, we have no choice but to go along for the ride. Chances are, we’ll realize in the end that these changes brought us to a much better place. The issue is we don’t know what will happen next, so it is time to consider how best to work with what we have rather than spend it needlessly. Money is Taurus’ main area of expertise, so while Uranus is in Taurus, we can expect some very revolutionary ways of handling and dealing with money, both nationwide and worldwide. During the seven years Uranus spends in Taurus, brand-new forms of currency may arise, banks and banking could come to a halt or change dramatically, and the housing and stock markets may be in for a major shake-up.
We see this happening already in our world, but on a more personal level, Uranus in Taurus encourages us to break free from the grips of money: debt, taxes, credit card interest, rent, and mortgages are all things that can prevent us from saving money or using it the way we want to. We may also feel trapped by our material possessions in general. During this transit, we must be ready and willing to change our relationship to money and materialism; we no longer have a choice. Uranus is here to liberate us, and digging in our heels and resisting won’t make things any easier, and won’t stop these changes from happening.
So take the time to consolidate debt, to work on financial issues in order to “let freedom ring!” We are at a precarious moment in our history where we as individuals must set a course for independence and not rely on what has been in the past. There are things you can do to make your hard earned money last longer like growing food, making your own food from scratch rather than going to restaurants, learning to make what you need from raw materials rather than spending on things you can’t afford. Allow this input of information steer you in a new direction of self reliance and sovereignty rather than fear and limitation.
